Masonry: Structure & Design - Opportunities with 2018 IBC is brought to you by the Delaware Valley Association of Structural Engineers (DVASE) and the AIA Building Enclosure Council (AIA/BEC) and is geared toward both structural engineers and architectural designers.
The built environment is changing thanks to evolving building science and the need to use materials more efficiently. Reducing the impact on energy and environment, while providing a thoughtful approach to resilient design are important factors in developing a balanced solution. Masonry over the last several years, has gained arguably the most in efficiency from more reliable test methods and studies. The 2018 International Building Code and TMS 402/602-16 Building Code Requirements and Specification for Masonry Structures give more flexibility to the designer than previous editions.
This program will provide insight to key changes made in the codes since the 2009 International Building Code, highlighting our most recent changes to TMS 402/602, ASTM C90, ASCE 7, ASHRAE 90.1, and IECC. Seminars will focus on both structural and architectural elements. In addition, a collaborative panel/roundtable discussion will explore how the two disciplines can coordinate and implement more efficient designs in masonry.
