About our Speakers: Charles Bostick is an architect who has worked in Chicago and is registered in the State of Illinois but has practiced for the better part of his 26 year career in Germany. He has worked for small and large offices in just about all the capacities an architect has to do, from design, project coordination, permitting, to detailing, shop drawing review and construction supervision, working often with top consultants and contractors – but thru these varied and highly educational experiences there has always been a constant in that he has always dealt with glass in some form or another, starting as a young architect fresh out of school working in Tony Belluschi’s office helping to detail the skylight that is over the American Airlines Terminal at O’Hare, to working with James Carpenter on a glass sculpture for his first built design for an office building in Munich, as well as his work with Helmut Jahn since 1989 up to the present and his work since 2005 with the glass manufacturer and contractor, seele, a company that has been doing cutting edge glazing since they formed in 1983, a quarter of a century ago. Charles will explain the latest trend in using glass as a structural material. Belinda Watts, RA, Senior Associate, Project Manager Joined Gensler 1995, and has 25 years experience. Belinda Watts, AIA joined Gensler with experience in a diversified range of projects, including extensive work designing and managing both architectural and interior projects. Based in Gensler’s New York office, her work encompasses building and site analysis, project programming, design and implementation, and project management. Prior to joining Gensler, Belinda worked on architectural projects ranging from a pedestrian bridge within a manufacturing campus in New Jersey, private residences in the New York area and tensile structures for shade and bandshells on the East Coast. She moved to New York in 1982 after graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Curtin University, in Perth Australia, with the award winning thesis ‘Designing for the Aged”, and went on to receive a Master of Architecture degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. Belinda lead the design analysis of Renzo Piano’s New York Times Building on Eighth Avenue for co-developer Forest City Ratner, and Frank Gehry’s Atlantic Yards Office Building in Brooklyn. She orchestrated the due diligence studies for the relocation of Christie’s to Rockefeller Center and the Burberry Flagship store on 57th Street. Her recent projects include Ziff Brothers Investments, Bain and Company, JC Flowers and Company, Taconic Capital Advisors and MetLife. She recently orchestrated a family event “Building Buildings” at the Children’s Museum of Manhattan. Belinda led the interior fit-out of the new Comcast Headquarters in Philadelphia, which features the four story glass staircase.
